“I’d rather be on the receiving end of a black eye from you—than the receiving end of a kiss from another.”
My name is Milo Caro and I have a confession to make.
I’ve been in love with Colton Mathews since I was five. He should have known that sharing a cookie with a sugar obsessed little monster would do the trick–it sealed his fate. So really, the fact that he’s sporting a black eye, a limp, almost got ran over by a car, and was nearly responsible for another person’s death? Right. HIs fault. Not mine.
I made a pact with myself–this weekend would be different. I’d come home for my brothers wedding, smile, and Colton would naturally melt into my arms, we’d get married have five kids, live in a house by the river, and get a dog named scratch (clearly I’ve thought this through).
What really happened? I punched my brother in the face, Colton kissed me and apologized, I lied about having a boyfriend, oh and everyone wants to meet the mystery man.
They say laughter always comes before insanity–ha, ha. All I wanted was my brother’s best friend…instead I’m sitting in prison.
Let this be a lesson to you all…life rarely happens the way you want it to.
Damn cookie.

ARC received via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review but it didn’t affect my opinion about this book.
If I am asked to describe this book in two words, they will be: crazy and bizarre.
I thought that if I took off a few days, it would help me process my thoughts after reading this book. Turned out it was futile. Until now, the biggest question I have is still the same: What the fuck did I just read?
Looking at the cover, I expected a story that was so romantic and heartfelt. Something mature, you know. Instead I got bombarded with a shit ton of immature characters, a sexual harassing grandma and a kind of humor that was either forced or just foreign to me.
Take note: Just because you're a grandma doesn't give you the right to sexually harass young men. It might be funny if done as a joke sometimes but there's a certain line that shouldn't be crossed. And this book crossed it multiple times. Not cool at all.
Milo comes back from college to attend her older brother's wedding. She also has to face the man whom she's been pining for years but broke her heart when she was sixteen, Colton. She ends up saying that she is seeing someone and calls her really hot metrosexual best friend to make him pretend as her boyfriend. Together, they endeavor to make Colton jealous and admit his feelings for Milo.
Sounds simple, right?
It's not.
The events simultaneously occurring during Operation: Seduce Colton were so crazy I felt traumatized when I finally finished reading the story. I still couldn't even believe that I didn't DNF it.
And the characters? God. These people are older than me but the level of tolerance that I have to use was for ten-year old kids. I can't even.
I found The Consequence of Loving Colton really ridiculous. I tried to appreciate it because it was something different but I just couldn't. And that's saying a lot because I usually appreciate craziness. I just didn't appreciate anything in this story.
